Opening MAS (Museum on the River) May 17th 2011

The new MAS is a new innovative and ambitious project related to a topical and active city museum in Antwerp.

It has been built in Hanzestedenplaats, in the centre of the Eilandje district, the interface of city and port.

MAS tells tales based on the amazing and diverse objects in the Municipal Collections, showcasing them in adapted presentations.

The backbone is made up of the collections of the National Maritime Museum, the Museum for Regional Ethnology, the Ethnographic Museum, the Vleeshuis Museum and the collection of port-related maritime and industrial-archaeological objects dating from prehistory to the present.
