Sir Richard Branson in Aruba

Sir Richard Branson is the latest celebrity to be seen in Aruba.

The multi-millionaire entrepreneur, the 261st richest person in the world according to Forbes magazine, was spotted at Japanese restaurant Sushi-Ya & NextDoor in central Oranjestad, watching the recent World Cup in the company of the locals.

High-profile visitors is nothing new to the island: Aruba is a popular destination for jetsetters from all over the world, having welcomed over the last few years from Sarah Jessica Parker, Alicia Keys and Ben Affleck to Brooke Shields, Jamie Foxx and Ricky Martin.

Earlier this year Tom Cruise (who used to own a villa on the island) and Katie Holmes held a party on Aruba’s private Renaissance Island, while Richard Gere was the official host of the inaugural Aruba International Film Festival, which took place in June.
