Company Introduction
A former Portuguese territory, Macau is a cosmopolitan melting pot bearing the distinctive hallmarks of its Asian and European heritage. Settled by the Portuguese in the 16th century, Macau became a Special Administrative Region of China in 1999.
Its history is visible throughout the destination, from the UNESCO World Heritage listed “Historic Centre of Macau” – featuring distinctly European buildings and squares alongside Asian temples and monuments – to its world famous food and its relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. Yet at the same time, Macau continues to develop with a host of luxury hotels, casinos and nightlife options and is fast earning a name for itself as one of Asia’s most impressive nightlife and entertainment centres.
In contrast, and to the south, is Coloane island, with lush, green countryside, hills, quiet villages and sandy beaches which offer a relaxing alternative to northern Macau.
With its unique culture and diversity, Macau sits perfectly as part of a multi-centre Far Eastern itinerary, as a stopover with a difference on the Kangaroo route, or as a holiday destination in its own right.
