Vuyo Zitumane

Position: Chairperson of the Board

Qualifications: Bachelor of Law degree, Honours in developmental studies (cum laude) MBA from Potchefstroom Business School

Vuyo’s experience includes working as Assistant Manager for the Small Business Development Corporation (now ECDC), as well as becoming the Eastern Cape Provincial Director of the Independent Development Trust, a government development agency. She was then recruited by the Amathole District Municipality (ADM) as Deputy Chief Executive Officer where she also focused on development projects. In 2000 Vuyo became the Provincial Director for National Department of Public Works in the Eastern Cape and then moved to NMMM where she was Executive Director of Economic Development, Agriculture and Tourism for three years. Vuyo also undertook the position of Acting City Manager at NMMM for the year of 2006. Currently, Vuyo is the Administrator for Sundays River Municipality.She also serves on various Boards and Audit Committees of Public Institutions including JSE listed companies. With her experience and expertise, Vuyo is well suited to the position of Chairperson of the Board of ECPTA.






Sybert Liebenberg

Position: Acting Chief Executive Officer

Qualifications: Masters degree in Public and Development Management. Honours degree in Politics, both from the University of Stellenbosch. Certified Prince2 project manager.

Sybert started his professional career as a lecturer in Development Studies at the University of South Africa, where he lectured and researched a wide range of developmental topics, resulting in him being awarded the Principles Prize for research in 1998.

During his tenure at UNISA he also authored a number articles and chapters in a wide selection of books dealing with development topics. He also co-edited a book dealing with Participatory Development Management and the RDP with Prof Peter Steward.

After leaving UNISA he practiced as a consultant and project manager, engaging in a great number of assignments on a continental, national, provincial and local level.

In 2003 he joined the CSIR as a senior researcher and pioneered the concept of Developmental Peace Missions, as an African alternative to post-conflict reconstruction. The concept was subsequently included in the SANDF’s Peace Support Operations Doctrine. In this capacity he also served on a number of expert panels dealing with issues of postconflict reconstruction and science and technology development for the African Union. He also assisted the Government of the Southern Sudan to develop post-conflict reconstruction and development plans for the Warrap State. Whilst at the CSIR he also assisted in the Development of the Maritime Industry Development Strategy and the Government Wide Immovable Asset Management Strategy, which resulted in the promulgation of the Government Wide Immovable Asset Management Act.

In 2007 Sybert move to the Eastern Cape, where he joint PricewaterhouseCoopers. During his tenure with them, he conducted a number of key assignments, including amongst others the development of the Macro-Policy and draft White Paper for the Department of Home Affairs.

In 2009 he joined the Office of the MEC for Finance and Economic Development, where he was responsible for strategy development as Special Strategy Advisor MEC Jonas then deployed Sybert to the Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs in July 2009 where he was Head of Department. In July 2010 Sybert was appointed as the Interim CEO of ECPTA.

His personal interests include having successfully completed four Comrades marathons, surfing and skateboarding!






Eddie Marafane

Position: Executive Director: Business Development & Tourism

Number of years in tourism: 3

Qualifications: I.A.C Marketing Diploma (East London Technical College), Project Management Diploma, MBA degree (Thames Valley University), B Tech Marketing (Technikon SA).

Eddie is responsible for driving and monitoring tourism development and investment in Eastern Cape. In addition to this, Eddie facilitates and manages tourism infrastructure development to support tourism growth in the province.





Lavinia Subboo

Position: Interim Executive Director: Marketing and Communications

Number of years in tourism: 14

Qualifications: I.A.C Marketing Diploma at East London Technical College, Project Management Diploma and a Project Management diploma

Lavinia is responsible for branding of the Eastern Cape in line with the International Marketing Council and South African Tourism. She manages and is responsible for all marketing, advertising and communication activities to increase the number of visitors to the province and it's protected areas, ensuring that the Eastern Cape is a destination of choice in the domestic and international markets.






Susan Wilson

Position: Manager: Trade Relations

Number of years in tourism: 18

Qualifications: National Diploma in Business Studies

Susan manages relationships with key trade partners on a national and international level. This portfolio includes the management of Country Representatives, contracting and monitoring Joint Marketing Agreements with Tour Operators, educating the travel trade on the Eastern Cape Tourism offering through trade and media workshops, educational tours and one on one sales meetings. Susan has extensive product knowledge and excellent relationships with provincial tourism stakeholders. Susan has travelled the length and breadth of the Eastern Cape province and will happily assist with itinerary design and route planning.

Zukiswa Ntwasa

Position: Manager: Trade and Consumer Promotions

Number of years in tourism: 14

Qualifications: Teachers Diploma and currently studying B Com Tourism Management

Zukiswa manages all aspects of the ECPTA’s national and domestic Shows, Exhibitions and Events. Zukiswa has extensive product knowledge and has an excellent relationship with Provincial tourism stakeholders at a public and private sector level. Zukiswa has also developed relationships on an inter-Governmental level. Key projects include the Annual Tourism Indaba, the National Arts Festival, the Ironman and Billabong Surfing Pro events.

Miranda Nofeliti

Position: Marketing Officer

Number of years in tourism: 13

Qualifications: National Diploma Travel and Tourism and B Tech Tourism Management.

Miranda assists the marketing team with arrangements for Educational Tours. Miranda has extensive product knowledge and is a whizz at coordinating the ECPTA’s Tourism Events.
